Mothers Day Reflections

As Mother's Day approaches I find myself reflecting back . I look at my past, and my relationship over the years with my mother, and my relationships with my children. When I was younger, from being a child to raising my own family, I never really thought about or appreciated how close my family is. While I am close to my Mom, it is definitely an entirely different relationship I have with her, than I do with my kids. I have a lot of respect for my mother. She could definitely stretch a buck, we never had lots of money, but we always had enough, and she saved for some amazing vacations too! I talk to my mom, if I have issues I need advice on, but there are certain topics I would not dream of bringing up to her. Some things would just stress her out to much. On the other hand no topic is too taboo when I have discussions with my children. I cherish that, but sometimes its tough, not having just the right words when they are troubled about something. Its difficult as a parent when your children grow up , and you realize its time to let them learn some of the tough lessons on their own. I so want to protect them, and make them see what I have learned through the trials and errors of my own life, but sometimes you just can't.You can listen, give them your opinion, and then you just are there for them when they need you. I think that's the most important thing of being a mom, always being there for your children, whether you agree or disagree, approve or disapprove, just being there when they need you, to love them !I know my mother is there when I need her, and I will always be there for my kids..Whether you have a great relationship or a troubled one, remember your Mom this Mothers Day, let her know you love her, in spite of any differences, and don't forget to thank her!

Listening to that voice..

Have you ever been about to do something, where everything in your brain and everyone around you says.".NO .. that's crazy,don't do it, that would be a huge mistake"?You know odds are they are right, but something in your heart, some voice inside says,"Yes, you know what to do, so go do it!" I have that strong feeling now, and after a horrible day yesterday, and lots of soul searching, I am going to listen to that voice! God leads us to do His bidding , and I think, puts us in situations that make us uncomfortable to see what we will do, and to help us grow and develop. If we turn our backs on someone because its uncomfortable or they have made wrong decisions, what are we teaching them? If we truly want to be an example of Gods love, then we need to do it with actions, not just words! People need to know they are loved, that someone does care! So, here I go, no wait, here we go,this would not be happening if it wasn't for my children!Keep us in your prayers, I pray for strength and guidance. Today, go out and be Gods love to someone who needs it. Give someone a hug,an encouraging word, listen to them ,feed someone hungry.Have a great day and.keep in mind Matthew 25:40 "'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me. A.m. pondering..

I have always believed in a strong faith, even when life was rough I never questioned how far your faith can get you through. There were times in my life, way to numerous to mention, where God always saw me through. I can remember,a broken down vehicle with  no money to fix it , or being  low on groceries and no money to buy them , or an electric bill that was on its last days before being  cut off,or feeling really hopeless and God sending the answer. from a surprise visit from someone with groceries,or unexpected money to fix the car , or things working out to pay the bill,or someone coming by or calling with just the right words.. He ALWAYS knows what you need, sometimes even when you don't ..just give Him a chance to show you..have a little faith! And on the other hand, you never know when God is using you to reach someone. Sometimes you are the only God's love people will see ,don't hesitate to help someone, sometimes something small to you is HUGE to them.I think it is  better to show people what God's love is like  instead of just telling them!
God has blessed me with an awesome family. My kids are truly wonderful, sweet compassionate people who are not afraid to speak whats on there minds. I LOVE that! There are all  independent  and different but always there for each other and others. We all have varied viewpoints on things from politics,to religion,to everyday life but we respect our differences.  I thank God everyday for my stepdaughter Shannon, she is a sweet wonderful woman who is a great mom. God really blessed me when he put her in my life,I truly treasure our relationship even though we are far apart (shes in Portugal). Hollie  is next , she is my fireball, very compassionate ,strong willed and loving. This one has never met a stranger and has the God given ability to make everyone around her feel special, happily married to a man I think balances her perfect! I am very glad she has found him, they are just what each other needs  . Then there is Catie, my quiet, sweet tempered daughter, she is an awesome cook and baker and never hesitates to help someone.  She never gets riled up , and is great in any crisis. Then there is Ric  he can do almost anything..he will help anyone anytime anywhere..he has a huge heart, and maybe a little bit of a temper..lol! Then last but not least is Ryan  he is such a treasure.. he is very smart , and great with people and quite the sense of humor. he is dedicated and driven  and I know will go far in life. I have never had a problem with my kids and drugs , or  any major behavior problems. i thank God for that.  I know I made mistakes with them  but when you let them know how much they are loved , I think that sorta trumps the mistakes..anyway  it works out..
Well enough on my ponderings , just thought I would fill you in a little on my family. Have a great day..more later
